There Will be Blood!
The possible prophetic significance of the current global financial meltdown
“There will be Blood.” This was the headline of a note to investors by J.P. Morgan, financial US giant, following the announcement of Donald Trump’s trade tariffs on all foreign countries last week.
Prophetic punch
Interestingly enough, this information came to my attention through an economics email that I opened at the same time as I was listening back to some prophecies that had been highlighted in past editions of Prophecy Today, specifically a sensational ‘word’ given by Emma Stark of the Global Prophetic Alliance shortly before Donald Trump’s election in November 2024.
The prophecy sparked enormous controversy within the US-led ‘prophetic movement’ because, according to Emma, God showed her a vision of Him stooping down and punching the American President in the face (clearly meant as a metaphor).1 What caught my attention were her words; “there was a lot of blood in the image”. Is this a coincidence, or was God highlighting something?
Wickland word
Prophecy Today has long been highlighting a time of coming judgement, the birth pangs of which, indeed, we are already experiencing.
I was also reflecting on another prophecy highlighted in the pages of Prophecy Today, one emanating from senior pastor of the Living Word Church Network, Chris Wickland. Seven months prior to the word from Ms Stark – in April 2024, Wickland prophesied that the UK had less than one year before the judgements that are to come.2
Wickland was addressing the Church in particular, saying that we must stop our compromise with the world, that we must wake up, and thus avoid the judgements about to come on ‘Babylon’. In the prophecy, he warned that it is the 11th hour, a point symbolised by London’s Big Ben ringing 11 bongs an hour early, at 10 o’clock in the morning, the previous day (24th April 2024). The five frenzied horses that fled through central London that same morning, Chris felt, represented the war, famine, plague and pestilence that is to come.
Recession likely
Exactly 12 months later, and the financial markets are currently in meltdown. Leaders across the world are desperately trying to mitigate some of the damage that America’s tariffs are already beginning to cause. Financial analysts are saying that a global recession is now highly likely. It may just be that what Trump calls ‘medicine’ may be helpful longer term to the American economy, but it will probably badly affect the poorest countries.

The UK economy had already been teetering on the brink of recession, thanks to a poor understanding of basic economics enacted by our chancellor, Rachel Reeves, along with her government’s far too rapid race to net zero (and the enduring damaging effect of Covid lockdowns). The US’s tariffs are lower for the UK than for many other countries, yet the worldwide impact will still notably affect us.
Warning signs
Is this significant financial market reaction the ‘punching on the nose’ that Emma Stark’s prophecy referred to, soon to render Trump powerless, as the image of his teeth being knocked out seems to imply? For we do know that during his first term, Trump made a big deal of how the buoyancy of the stock markets reflected on his ability to improve the economy. Could any ‘punching’ be the reaction of the American people to their president’s actions? Or, rather, will this prove not to be a ‘punch in the face’ to the American President at all (he has already insisted he’s not worried about the global stock markets) – and that possibly that ‘blow’ is yet to come somewhere down the line?
Of course, it’s only by spiritual discernment that we can ascertain whether either of these prophecies are indeed accurate words from God, or even approximations of what God is saying to us – and whether the timing refers to the events we are now witnessing. I only claim to be an observer, not a prophet. Yet the warning signs are everywhere.
And, as always, the message to God’s people is; how are we going to react to what comes?

We’ve got God
Signs are already in evidence that many of the younger generation are open to the gospel – more and more are turning to God, for they know that this increasingly gloomy world cannot truly satisfy.
A time of great need is coming upon us, but its end result will be to bring a harvest for the gospel. We must ensure we are ready, workers who are willing and able, even in difficult times, to respond to God’s promptings.
I mentioned to my husband just how much our personal savings (invested in the stock market) had gone down recently; they’ve dropped more than 20% in recent days and may likely sink further. He replied, “It’s a good job we’ve got God.”
And so it is. We cannot trust in money, economics, health or anything else this world has to offer. But we can trust in our God – indeed, we must.
Further, we can introduce our friends, family and neighbours to Him, for the signs are that they may well be far more ready to meet Him – even in these days – than we might think.

He has been the first fruit today of a sign of what true error is, and moving away from a true Christ, and opening the door to all kinds of evil in a nation – don’t ever underestimate how anti-greed God is.
He is the champion of himself, and I will punch him, for I will not be mocked any longer by him in place.”
