Through the Storm
Significant Purpose

Read John 8:12; Matthew 5:14-16.
We have now reached the top-most level of the metaphorical ‘lighthouse’: it represents the place of work. This is where the keeper of the light keeps the watch and in days gone by would have tended the very flame of the lamp to ensure it was kept alive.
Most lighthouses today are fully automated and therefore unmanned. The Old Light on Lundy was built in 1819 when the lamp that shone from the lamp platform was fuelled by oil and the keepers took turns in working 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, to do everything possible to keep the lamp burning.
In addition to this, they lived in a constant state of vigilance as they kept the watch to look out for those in danger. There was a whole team of islanders willing to risk their lives if necessary to put out tiny rowing boats from the shore to sail headlong into danger to rescue those in trouble through storms.
Spiritually speaking, Jesus is the very essence of every single living stone out of which the whole spiritual lighthouse is built: from the depths of the bedrock, the foundations, the cornerstone from which all alignments are made, through every level of construction, right to the very top. The Spirit of God is the oil that gives light to the lamp and Christ Himself is the Light.
The Spirit of God is the oil that gives light to the lamp and Christ Himself is the Light.
We are significant people who have been called and chosen to have the same commission the light-keepers once had: to maintain and shine the light, keep the watch and do everything humanly possible to put out the spiritual lifeboat to save and rescue those who are caught up in a storm - whether spiritually, physically, mentally or emotionally.
It is only from the place of solid foundation of our understanding of covenant relationship with God and embracing what that means for us that we are enabled to put our own storms into perspective. Then from a place of security and acceptance in Him, we can offer out to others the anchor of certain hope that is only found in a relationship with God through Jesus.

PRAYER TIME
Think about the spiritual interpretation of the ‘operations’ level of the lighthouse. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what this might mean for you and your walk with God.
-
What is your spiritual purpose? Do you have a clear understanding of what this might mean for you?
Write down what He says.
Ask Him to kindle His Light within you that you might burn stronger than before.
