Facing Hard Times

Living in a society under the judgement of God

stormsWatching or reading the news in recent days unavoidably fills one with at least a sense of gloom, more likely one of foreboding. It is in the interest of the vast multi-billion pound news media we allow into our homes to create this sense of unease; the worse the news headline, the more likelihood that we will come back to check up on the next update – and the next.

But there is a growing sense that this time they might have it right.

Changing culture

The slow-motion psychodrama of the Labour Party leadership competition, and thus the leadership of the country, is only the very visible tip of the iceberg. We just need to look at the latest local and national election results, which have seen a swathe of untried, untested and perhaps unsuitable candidates achieve office.

Throughout much of this century, we have seen the infrastructure of the country decline; with housing, transport, health and defence all facing massive problems. Meanwhile, whilst these vital areas have been mismanaged or neglected, British citizens have witnessed what seems like a concentrated and successful effort to reconstruct the nation’s cultural viewpoint.

Unidentifiable Britain

Going, if not gone entirely, in our educational institutions, are the standards of literature and history which gave us an idea of who we were as a people. Different yes, depending on our locality within Britain and our own interests and education, but still one, owing allegiance to a core concept of life together in Britain. Meanwhile our elites in Parliament, universities, and the media have been busy promoting ideologies that are alien to the British character and people.

British citizens have witnessed what seems like a concentrated and successful effort to reconstruct the nation’s cultural viewpoint.

The concept of an identifiable Britain, however nebulous, has gone. ‘Diversity, equality and inclusion’ has been employed as a steamroller to grind any opposition into the ground – and especially if that opposition is Christian or Christian-based. As historian Tom Holland has pointed out, we in the West are goldfish swimming in Christian waters, and most of us, whether Christians or not, still cling instinctively to the norms instilled by centuries of Christian morality. As the culture which is being replaced was consciously based upon Christian principles, conflict for the Christian is inevitable.

Islam unbounded

Alongside this, and part of it, is the fact that we have witnessed a horrifying, and unrealistic, not to say illusory, support for the spread of Islam. We have seen in too many areas, such as parts of London, the Midlands and North of England, that where the Muslim population grows, any hope of integration disappears. Islam does not seek to integrate but to dominate, and our cultural and political elites still remain blinded by the forlorn chimera of multiculturalism.

As a result of soft-pedalling Islam, we have the shocking reality of a schoolteacher from west Yorkshire who has been in hiding since 2021 because he offended Muslims by daring to show cartoons of the prophet Muhammad during a lesson on blasphemy. Streets can be blocked by Muslims at prayer, despite there being around 2, 000 mosques in the UK. An MP has been stabbed to death by a deranged Muslim. A soldier was beheaded on the street. Young people were murdered at a concert. Tens of thousands of white (and Sikh) girls have been gang raped.

Muslims can drive cars through Jewish neighbourhoods shouting that they will rape their wives and daughters. Synagogues have been attacked, ambulances burned, and Jews murdered. We have seen an exponential increase in anti-Semitism – most of it spawning from Islam.

We are in a battle for the soul of our nation.

In response, the police, like beggars pleading for a handout, attend mosques and timorously request that Muslims obey the law. Armed Muslim gangs are told no action will be taken against them if they store their weapons in the nearby mosque. Eighty-plus Sharia courts operate in the UK. Pakistani Muslim clan networks decide by-election results. Seventy-five per cent of MI5’s terrorist caseload are Islamic. More than 40,000 Muslims are on terror watch-lists

And what is the result of all this deeply disturbing activity? Our government drafts laws to make criticism of Islam a crime! You couldn’t make it up.

Battle for soul of our nation

If, as recent election results would indicate, the two-party system is dead, there is a straightforward reason for its demise – the simple fact that both Labour and Conservative have failed the British people. They have been too busy protecting and serving their own interests and as a result have neglected those of the ordinary British public. Political power is there to be used for the good of the people, not for its own sake as a prize for election winners.

If the British public has had enough, then that is entirely understandable. Ordinary citizens are looking around for leaders who will steer a course towards a vision of what our country should be like. The rise of populist parties – notably the Greens – with their rather radical and entirely unworkable visions of the future of Britain promise further turmoil. We are in a battle for the soul of our nation.

There is no area of human endeavour, individually or for a nation or a community, that God doesn’t care about.

Our national churches, meanwhile, are emasculated by adherence to the delusion that aping the world in all its folly, and some of its wickedness, will bring about peaceful co-existence with that which should be shunned (I John 2:15-17). As a result, they have done all they can to bring Christianity into disrepute.

For such a time as this

The old adage is forever true: ‘Hard men create good times. Good times create weak men. Weak men create hard times. We live towards the end of that process. Yet we should not shrink from what we’re faced with, but, rather, remember the words of Mordecai to Queen Esther, ‘For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this? (Esther 4:14).

We who are Christ’s can no longer retreat into the atheist-inspired ghetto that the Christian faith is something to be confined to church buildings or private conviction. Instead, like Abraham Kuyper, we should recognise that Christianity speaks into every area of human life and culture, There is not an inch of creation of which God does not say, “Mine”. There is no area of human endeavour, individually or for a nation or a community, that God doesn’t care about.

Speaking out

It is possible that some Christians hesitate to engage publicly on moral or social and political issues on the grounds that it distracts from evangelism and makes believers appear judgmental. Yet believers are called not only to preach salvation through Jesus Christ, but also to demonstrate what they believe is good, just and true. There are times when it really is necessary to speak out.

There are times when it really is necessary to speak out.

We live in a narcissistic society that is awash with pornography, in which babies can be killed in the womb up until birth, where divorce is simplified and marriage redefined, where assisted suicide is coming, and where religious liberty and freedom of speech is under serious threat.

All this is an inevitable result of the rejection of our Christian roots. As Dostoevsky warned us inThe Brothers Karamazov’,If there is no God, all things are permitted.”

We live in a society which is under God’s judgement. This deeply onerous situation behoves us, as children of God, to understand the times in which we live, to turn to Him, and hear from Him, that we might know how we should live and what we should do.

Excellent article, Campbell, and helpful responses, especially Derek Prince's comments. We are in the process of a great reversal of what happened to the Body of Christ when Constantine made the faith legal. He added the church to a list of approved Empire 'religions'. It may have received positive reports from across the Empire, to the effect that Christians in Roman communities across the nations, 'work hard', 'they care for the sick and the widows', 'they teach their children respect, and they train them well'. However, Constantine also brought secular influence upon God's people. They were to stop meeting in homes, and use redundant 'basilicas' - grand buildings originally for Emperor worship. They were required to give their 'leaders and teachers' a state approved, academic training. Over the centuries, the ekklesia forgot it was a Holy Nation. Left with its other identity as a 'Royal Priesthood', it was placed in the category of 'religion'. And the state eventually took over schools, the universities and hospitals. Less Christians joined the 'elders at the gates' of cities and communities. But now, reversal means advance. The catastrophic financial condition of local and central governments, alongside the 'Big Government' ideology in Westminster and Holyrood, has set the scene for us to step-in, and follow the example of the church in Brazil. In their cities, Christians build houses, as well as doing evangelism, assist business start-ups and give business mentoring as well as pastoring and teaching. Out of necessity, due to corruption and incompetence of secular governance, Christians have gradually been led by God's Spirit into our lost identity as Holy Nation.

Peter Brierley's "UK Christian Handbook" arrived around 1981 as an slim A5 booklet of about 30 pages. By 1992/3 it had 860 pages. After 2000 it moved online. The point is - Christians are doing more and more 'nation' stuff. The functions of 'church' spill over into the wider community. Like Brazil, it's becoming a necessity in UK. God is at work, His Spirit is inspiring, directing, preparing for the return of the King upon whose shoulders is government. "..He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; Rev.19,15. We are listen and learn, to serve in His government, His services, His industries, His agriculture, His Health Care, Social Work, etc... the Lord of all peoples, languages, tribes and nations", has a unique gifting and callings for EVERY member of His Body (that is the fullness of Him who fills all in all).

What we can do is pray.
Pray that the remnant that God has preserved would awaked, open their eyes, look around, see the signs of the times, understand and turn back to the Lord in humble repentance, with sincere and contrite hearts and seek His face. We must ourselves repent. Ask the Lord to shine his truth once more on this nation and let his Holy Fear descend.
And when we have the opportunity, share the full Gospel.

I understand and agree with everything that this article says. But I’m not an Esther I have no position and no Mordecai to rally people to pray and fast. The church even Bible believing ones are blind to the situation and I can only try and alert those in my church but I’m not sure how seriously they take the warning . They are totally blind to the Jews and their right to the Land and their importance to God’s plan. Therefore I feel helpless, I can pray and write to my MP who believes in assisted dying, abortion and conversion therapy and sees no problem with Islam . What can I do?

So why are we here? What is at the root of the church's failure? In his biography published 20 years ago, two years after his death, Derek Prince said: 'I believe that Britain may be the first Western nation to fall to Islam. It is already happening. This is due to ... a lifting of God's grace because of how Britain treated the Jews.' The church is awash with replacement theology. If the church gets something wrong that is so fundamental to a correct reading of scripture, then we are severely handicapped. It is essential that we get to the root of the problem and not just describe the symptoms. Chuck Cohen writes: "The Body of Messiah becomes less effective in intercession by mistaking the results for the cause of judgment. This limits us to the lesser target, treating the symptoms and not providing the cure." https://www.ifi.org.il/en/teachings/why-god-judges-nations

The downhill trend in which the UK is treading should cause alarm within the established church systems. But alas, no! Church leaders do not wish to say so and continue as the blind leading the blind. They are afraid to interact and appear to plod along regarding the state of affairs. Too afraid to lead and stand up to be counted while church attendees only wish to go to their meetings without cause and the knock on effect is to be quiet and contentment revealing negativity and ignorance. What is so sad is that most are living out their lives in the comfort zone, hiding their beliefs and not mentioning and no wish to contend the Faith. Instead, they have the habit of playing ball with religion just to appease Islam and prefer a quiet life and less on preaching and sharing the message of the Gospel, and forget Christ's commission to Go Ye. They seem to be relying on social media to do the job for them spending more time chit chatting about the world and what it has to offer rather than the Good News. Face to face contact is treated as not the normal way of communication and spend hours upon hours on their mobiles, tablets, and computers, hence the problems which social media is causing. And yet, Repentance and Salvation has become less of, while the Judgement of God is not being said when Almighty God's warnings are evident to be seen, and yet, what has or is being hidden, is being revealed which the prophetic Word of God declares as a wake up call in the Last Days. Believers are sharing this, however, very few people are listening, especially those who think that belonging to man made religious and social bubbles and like the trimmings of holy huddles, is the way forward for the modern western Christian church to survive in the 21st century. A trend which is portraying the role of Christianity and the future of the so called Christian Church now being updated!

The timidity of the police before assertive Islam needs some unpacking. The nation has rejected Jesus Christ and must therefore fall under the dominion of Satan and of his false prophet. It isn't only the veiled threat of kinetic resistance - hierarchies of evil spirits are at work as well.

The police do not create public order. They merely uphold the public order that the community creates, and if that public order is created locally by a Muslim community, then the police will impose shari'a.

I have been persuaded for some time that police in some local areas are converting to Islam politically. After all, it's cheaper than being a Freemason!
