Britain on the Brink

Britain is dangerously adrift – militarily defenceless, morally bankrupt and spiritually spineless

livingworld (1) (003)There’s an urgency in my spirit that won’t go away. I have addressed the subject before, but the Lord keeps drawing my attention to the urgency of the hour we face as a nation, which is in great peril over its abandonment of Christianity and its betrayal of Israel.

I don’t often look at the time, not even wearing a watch, yet various digital clocks regularly catch my eye invariably declaring that it’s 9:11.

Of course, we know that a mighty disaster struck the United States on 9/11 2001 when the Twin Towers fell, and how scaringly appropriate that date was since it was also America’s emergency telephone number!

Britain in urgent need

Now it is Britain which is in desperate danger, and in need of an urgent need to repent and turn back to God. Pastor John Anosike, of Strengthen the Faithful, has been urging Christians to wake up to the vital necessity for prayer by reminding us how God saved us from the Nazi threat through seven national days of prayer held at various crisis points during World War II.

There can only be one reason for this urgency,” he writes in the June/July issue of Heart newspaper1. “At some point in the not-too-distant future this nation will face an existential crisis of such magnitude that only divine intervention will be able to save us. Just as Britain was alone at the time of the Dunkirk crisis (May 1940), this nation will be alone again, without any human help available; only divine help.”

I believe he is right. We are militarily defenceless, morally bankrupt and spiritually spineless. We are, in a sense, back on the beaches of Dunkirk needing a miracle rescue. Our ship of state is drifting, rudderless, towards the rocks, on the choppy waters of a world in turmoil.

As part of his national call to action, Pastor John has produced and distributed a ten-minute video chronicling how 335,000 soldiers were miraculously delivered from the beaches of Dunkirk – and possible annihilation.

A shaking of the nations

Forty years ago, an extraordinary prophecy was given at a gathering of Christian leaders on Israel’s Mt Carmel, where the prophet Elijah confronted the false prophets of Baal.

The message, from the late Bible teacher Lance Lambert, focused on what he described as “unparalleled upheaval and turmoil” that was shortly to follow. His words were along the lines of Haggai’s warning from God: “In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. I will shake all nations, and the desired of all nations (the Messiah) will come, and I will fill this house with glory” (Haggai 2:6f).

The New Testament letter to the Hebrews reminds its hearers of these words, adding: “The words ‘once more’ indicate the removing of what can be shaken – that is, created things – so that what cannot be shaken may remain” (Hebrews 12:26f).

Lance’s message included the following statement contributed by his colleague Dr Clifford Hill: “Do not fear the power of the Kremlin, nor the power of the Islamic Revolution, for I plan to break both of them through Israel.

The prophecy further explained that the Lord had not forgotten or given up on his chosen people. “In all their afflictions I was afflicted… I, the King of Israel, have been present… in all their sufferings. There was no gas chamber, no massacre in which I was not present. But now the time has surely come when I shall rescue them, for I will reveal myself to them, and with astonishment they will recognise me.”

There are now an estimated one million Jewish believers in Jesus in our midst.

Freedom from oppression

It was also prophesied that, in the midst of judgments, multitudes would be saved across the nations, backed by the comment: “You will hardly know how to bring the harvest in…” Evidence of this being fulfilled today is all around us.

Within just four weeks of that 1986 conference, the Chernobyl nuclear disaster struck and proved a key factor in the subsequent collapse of the Soviet Union’s Iron Curtain that had kept Eastern Europe chained to the Communist dogma. Over a million persecuted Jews were thus freed to return to their ancient homeland in fulfilment of multiple biblical prophecies.

The shaking we are now witnessing in the Middle East is even more serious as it affects the entire world, with America fully involved as Israel’s long-term ally.

A spiritual Battle of Britain

At the heart of it all is little Israel, like young David of old, bringing down the antisemitic Goliaths of this world. I remember sharing a vision I had with our church back in the 1980s of how we were engaged in a spiritual ‘Battle of Britain’ through our prayers. Today this is truer than ever.

Britain’s mainly Gentile Christians are being called at this time to pray and intercede, repenting of our national sin

Just as Esther, the Jewish Queen of Persia, was called “for such a time as this” (Esther 4:14) to save her people from genocide, Britain’s mainly Gentile Christians are being called at this time to pray and intercede, repenting of our national sin in breaking the Ten Commandments and betraying the Jewish people who blessed us with God’s Word.

Have mercy on us, Lord. Forgive us and welcome us back into your loving arms. Amen.

My late mother and her family responded to the call during WW2 to attend the prayer service about our soldiers at Dunkirk. Miraculously, Almighty God answered the prayers of Great Britain which delivered the soldiers back to our shores. For Nazi Germany were not to come ashore on the Kent resorts of the UK! But what appears to be lacking today is the tens of thousands of foreign migrants that have come ashore without identification, paid thousands for their boat crossings, and have been given free board and lodging, given benefits and travel expenses while receiving medical treatment by the NHS. And yet, the older folk are facing difficulties in receiving doctors appointments, social care has gone down the swanny, and the younger people after leaving school and university, are unemployed in huge numbers. My wife declares that our nation has been invaded while the wealthy political elite look on and rarely suffers from the rising cost of living and that which goes with it. My wife and I are not worthy to receive any home visits from the clergy and are expendable - treated as not one of the kind ( Christians) and are expected to include in our wills to make a donation to church establishments whilst alive. So our funerals would require approval for arrangements to be made at church premises and for any remembrance service. Who cares about our existence? From experience, only the Lord Jesus Christ. It is similar with the state of our nation which the so-called Christian Church has fallen asleep to. Does not want to get involved due to not offending wokeism, Islam, and other issues, while not listening to the Voice of God and instructions given as written in the Word of God. For it appears that the Judgement of God only refers to the Old Testament times of the Bible When facing perilous times and His calling, then both the Church and the nation, will face the consequences. Blessed be those who warn, share and are prepared to Walk in the Light of His Ways!

I could weep with frustration at all the people I personally know who reject the Almighty and His Son. But I pray, and pray, and pray.

Indeed Britain is on the brink. Repentance is required, but i fear the nation has gone too far and judgment must come. God's throne is founded on righteousness and justice so He must judge. The evil in the land is too great to ignore. But as God's people we should not fear judgement but accept it and pray for mercy in it. Peter told us judgment begins at the house of God, the church. God is not unjust and when the axe falls, as it will soon, He knows who and where his faithful are and as with Noah he will protect his faithful in the storm of judgment. Do not fear what must be. Our God is a righteous God. He is just.

The following came to me around Pentecost. Namely, the first two points, though the rest of it came to me piecemeal over the past months and years.

From 2 February 1917 (Feast of the Presentation of the Lord) to 2 November 2017 (Balfour Declaration) - nine months.

18 February 1920 (about 3 years after 2 November 1917) - Soviet Russia legalises abortion - the massacre of the innocents.

From 2 November 1917 to 14 May 1948 (Establishment of the State of Israel) - about 30 years (age of Jesus at the start of His public ministry and of David when he became King).

Abraham was created 1,948 years after the creation of Adam.

The Presentation of the Lord in the Temple was the only occasion in the history of the Second Temple which could have fulfilled the Lord's promise to fill THIS house with glory - in Haggai 2, which also has the promise to shake all the nations.

The fact that the Lord filled the Second Temple with glory - as He overshadowed Mary for the Incarnation - indicates a life-giving event. Brought forward to our time, it lands on the Feast of the Presentation in 1917, consistently with the repetition of the shaking prophecy at Hebrews 12, which refers to a then-future event.
